Our Story
Early 1950s
Allison Park Church began with a woman named Arlene, who began praying for a new church to be planted in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. A small group of ladies wrote to 18 different denominations asking them to consider starting a new church in an old church building that was available on Duncan Ave.
1966
At the time, Pastor William Bailey, was the lead pastor at Evangelistic Temple on the North Side. He responded to their letter and began holding home Bible studies with these ladies, in the spring. By fall, services were held on Sundays at the Odd Fellows Lodge.
1968
William’s son, D. Ronald Bailey became Allison Park Church’s first senior pastor. He continued as the lead pastor at Allison Park Church until early in 1991, when he resigned to take a new assignment in California.
Since Then
At that time, Jeff Leake had been an associate on the APC staff, and the congregation invited Jeff to officially become the new lead pastor at Allison Park Church. He and his wife Melodie have served in this capacity ever since.

Culture Statements
1
We pursue the power of the Holy Spirit with boldness and balance. Like in the book of Acts, we expect His gifts to be alive and active. But we’re intentional to model and explain the supernatural in a way that’s approachable, loving, and grounded in Jesus, not spooky or sensational. We lead with dependence on the Holy Spirit, not just strategic thinking. Through fasting, prayer, and generosity, we seek alignment with His movement, trusting that favor follows obedience more than formulas.
2
We embrace humility as our posture, resisting self-promotion and letting our fruit speak for itself. We prioritize seeking first the Kingdom (Matt. 6:33) and trust God with the increase.
3
We multiply kingdom life intentionally. Through mentorship and apprenticeship, we raise up leaders, pastors, musicians, missionaries, young people and everyday believers, empowering them to start and sustain healthy, missional communities.
4
We live with a ready yes in our spirit, full of faith and open to whatever God is breathing on. We trust that God is the God of the both/and, not just the either/or, and we’re eager to step into His invitation.
5
Our gatherings are designed to engage the will, not just the emotions or intellect. We create clear, Spirit-led moments for people to respond through worship, service, and intimacy with God—connecting heart, mind, and action.
6
Discipleship thrives in relationships and real-life experiences. Growth comes by doing, not just by academic learning. We emphasize action, through apprenticeship, breakthrough moments like repentance, deliverance, baptism, and Spirit-empowerment.
7
We aim to outdo one another in showing honor and generosity. Whether through words, time, finances, or experience, we live open-handed, trusting God’s abundance flows through us when we bless others freely.
8
The Gospel is our center. We preach Jesus boldly, and we live Him out through compassionate action; caring for the poor, the widow, and the orphan. But we never separate these acts from His name. Everything we do points back to Him.
9
The way we work is an offering unto God. That’s why we place so much value on bringing our best every single day. We may not always have the most resources or the nicest things, but we always do our best with what we have. Bringing our best is a way is an act of stewardship. It is the discipline to use what we have wisely to honor and serve God, our church family, and our community.
10
We don’t shy away from our differences. Conflict, utilized correctly, makes us more diverse, stronger, and healthier! But we are absolutely committed to handling conflict in a direct and healthy way that prioritizes reconciliation over rights or justice. We handle all friction according to the instructions of Jesus in Matthew 18, so we can maintain unity and peace.
