Child Dedications

Every Child is Special

We encourage parents to dedicate their children to God and dedicate themselves to godly, biblical parenting. Parents who dedicate a child are making a promise to the Lord to do everything within their power to raise the child in a godly way, prayerfully until he or she can make a decision on his or her own to follow God.

Several times throughout the Bible we see examples of parents dedicating their children to the Lord. Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:26-28). Mary and Joseph presented Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:22-40).

Parents who make this vow of commitment should raise the child in the ways of God, and not according to their own ways. They should seek to teach and train the child in God’s Word, demonstrate an example of godliness, and pray earnestly for the child.

During the dedication, pastors and leaders will pray over you and your child(ren) as you dedicate them to the Lord. We encourage you to invite family members and friends to witness this important event in your child’s life.

Before making this commitment, please read the Child Dedication Handbook.
